DICA

DICA Safety Tech and FiberMax Products

DICA Outrigger Pads exhibited its Safety Tech outrigger pads and FiberMax outrigger pads, crane pads and crane mats at the recent Electric Utility Fleet Managers Conference.

The Safety Tech line offers medium- and heavy-duty outrigger pads. Measuring 1-inch thick, the medium-duty pads are constructed of engineered thermoplastic material and feature industrial-grade safety texturing. The heavy-duty pads measure 2 inches thick and are designed to support rough terrain and truck-mounted cranes, as well as larger digger derricks and aerial lifts.

Launched in early 2014, DICA’s FiberMax Heavy Duty Outrigger Pads, Super Duty Crane Pads, and Mega Duty Crane Mats are made of fiber-reinforced polymers and feature higher rigidity properties than the Safety Tech product line. FiberMax Heavy Duty and Super Duty products have a high concentration of fiberglass reinforcements, which creates a crush strength in excess of 400,000 psi and an average flexural yield strength of 60,000 psi. www.dicausa.com

Goodyear-Total-Package-Solution

Goodyear Total Package Solution

Self-sealing truck tires and a service designed to help keep trucks up and running during and after severe weather incidents are just two pieces of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.’s Total Package Solution for utility fleets.

At the Electric Utility Fleet Managers Conference held in June, Goodyear displayed its new G751 MSA mixed-service truck tire, including one size of the tire that contains Goodyear’s exclusive DuraSeal Technology. Built into the tire during the manufacturing process, the technology instantly seals nail-hole punctures of up to a quarter-inch in diameter in the reparable area of a tire’s tread.

Also available for utility trucks is the G661 HSA, which offers long mileage and enhanced toughness for high-scrub applications.

Additionally, Goodyear offers its Storm Priority program. Utility truck drivers whose vehicles experience flat tires can call the dedicated Storm Priority hotline to speak with trained tire professionals at the 24/7 Goodyear-FleetHQ Solution Center.

The Goodyear Storm Priority program is offered through the Goodyear-FleetHQ suite of business solutions. Goodyear-FleetHQ also provides a smartphone app that expedites the emergency road call process; access to the industry’s largest network of tire and tire service providers; Tire Trac, an online tire management tool that monitors tire performance and presents key data in an easy-to-access format; and the Goodyear-FleetHQ Dashboard, which presents information about tire, retread and service performance, plus purchase information. www.goodyeartrucktires.com

Reading-CSV-Line

Reading Expands Aluminum CSV Line

Reading Truck Body is expanding its aluminum Classic Service Van (CSV) line with a version specifically designed for the 2015 Ford Transit. Ford’s Euro-style commercial van will be available in the all-new cutaway chassis, as well as a cab chassis that will pair well with the CSV. Reading plans to offer 57- and 72-inch bodies in single- and dual-wheel configurations for both chassis. The CSV is an effective commercial upfit for many vocational trades requiring secure, enclosed mobile work space.

The Reading CSV is built with recycled high-strength alloy aluminum, making it a greener solution that is up to 50 percent lighter than steel. Because Reading is so confident in its aluminum products, they are backed with a 10-year limited warranty.

The new Ford Transit configured CSV will continue to offer the same industry-leading features that Reading customers have come to expect, such as patented hidden hinges, galvanized shelving, LED lighting, nitrogen strut door holders, secure rear and compartment doors, and stainless steel locks. Available options will also include Latchmatic and Latchmatic Smartshield keyless locking systems, as well as a three-bow ladder rack. www.readingbody.com

Parker-CNG-Regulator-System

CNG Regulator System

Parker Hannifin Corp. has introduced an advanced CNG Vehicle Gas Regulator System for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles. The regulator system consists of an integrated filter, inlet solenoid valve and heat exchanger, all working together to provide advanced fuel-handling performance. Optimized for 6- to 15-liter engines, Veriflo’s piston regulator design offers stable pressure delivery and control of CNG throughout the full range of engine and environmental operating conditions. The manifold design of the regulator system reduces the chance of fuel line pressure increase due to reduced volume of fuel between the solenoid valve and regulator seals.

The regulator system is designed to achieve the highest flow rates (165 lb/hr) in the industry and the lowest low-pressure operating parameter (225 psig), which increases the usable range of CNG vehicles by 10 to 15 percent.

Other key features and advantages include an integrated heat exchanger that uses heated radiator fluid to condition the gas before it enters the engine; well-dampened piston that reduces flow-induced vibration; reduced pressure drop at high flow (75 kg/hr CNG); constrained motion poppet design eliminates lateral loads and seat wear; thermal shielding of internal components with PTFE seals isolates gas flow, allowing continuous operation even in extreme ambients; sealed dome provides for captured vent and boost pressure biasing; and a compact size, offering maximum effectiveness in a small space.

Configuration options include a low-pressure relief valve, high- and low-pressure sensors, inlet solenoid valve and coalescing filter. The complete system meets or exceeds all industry specifications. http://solutions.parker.com/alternativefuels
