Polaris BRUTUS HDPTO for Snow Removal

As the first side-by-side utility vehicle on the market to deliver front-end power take-off (PTO), the Polaris BRUTUS HDPTO is equipped with a 24-horsepower diesel engine with hydrostatic transmission. The HDPTO also comes ready to operate three optional attachments ideal for snow removal, including a hydraulically controlled 69-inch snow blade that provides operators the ability to angle plow 30 degrees left or right from inside the vehicle.

The PTO-powered attachments include a 70-inch angle broom and a two-stage snowblower with 62 inches of cutting width. The angle broom clears slush from any paved surface at a rate of 1,257 feet per minute, and the snowblower eats up snow while an impeller blows it up and out of the hydraulic chute.

A treadle pedal allows users to move forward or in reverse without shifting gears, providing an ideal setup for plowing and sweeping. The fully enclosed cab featuring heat, defrost and air conditioning ensures users are comfortable. www.polaris.com/commercial

TRP-Replacement-Parts

TRP Replacement Parts

Fleet managers and truck operators can rely on even greater parts availability with TRP’s newly expanded offering of replacement parts, including TRP turbochargers, power steering pumps, windshield wash and LED work lamps.

The TRP engine program features new, non-remanufactured TRP turbochargers that are available with no core charge. TRP turbochargers are designed for increased durability and improved turbo life, and all turbochargers are tested to ensure reliable performance.

As a key component of the steering system, TRP power steering pumps provide the correct amount of pressure to decrease steering effort, increase vehicle safety and ease driver fatigue. Every TRP power steering pump is tested to ensure performance, offering drivers peace of mind on the road.

Using natural cleaning agents to power through dirt, bugs and tree sap, TRP premium windshield wash also beads and repels rain to keep windshields clear for improved visibility.

Drivers need dependability when it comes to visibility, and TRP LED work lamps offer a compact, durable design that provides bright, uniform lighting for better visibility. TRP LED work lamps have a low power draw and also come with a lengthy 10-year warranty. www.trpparts.com

Motiv-Popular-Science-Award

Motiv Wins ‘Popular Science’ Award

Motiv Power Systems’ electric Powertrain Control System (ePCS) has been awarded a 2014 Best of What’s New Award in Green Technology from “Popular Science.” This award comes after a big year for Motiv, including deliveries of North America’s first and only all-electric garbage truck to the city of Chicago and the first production model all-electric school bus in the U.S. Motiv is backed by Magness Ventures and has received grant funding from the California Air Resources Board.

The basis for Motiv’s win is the ePCS, a single platform that can electrify any truck or bus chassis with a variety of commercially available battery packs and motors that are upgradable over time. The ePCS is installed instead of an engine and transmission on new incomplete chassis such as the Ford E-450, as a ship-through modification. This process, common in the truck industry, is similar to a compressed natural gas ship-through modification and means minimal changes between the fossil fuel and electric versions of the final vehicle. Existing truck and bus builders who already use these incomplete chassis can build and sell electric versions of their existing truck and bus models. Motiv currently partners with Trans Tech Bus to provide the electric version of its Class-A school buses, Ameritrans Bus to provide an electric commercial shuttle bus and Cumberland Servicecenter to provide the 30-ton electric refuse trucks to the city of Chicago. www.motivps.com

DICA-Pad-Lift

ZeroLift Pad Rack

DICA Outrigger Pads has introduced the ZeroLift Pad Rack, a crane accessory offering safety benefits for crane operators. The Pad Rack eliminates the need for crane operators to manually lift and carry outrigger pads, and makes transport on the job site simple and safe.

The ZeroLift Pad Rack has a carrying capacity of 1,000 pounds and is adjustable to fit pad sizes up to 48 inches by 60 inches. Made of high-strength steel, the Pad Rack easily installs on either the front or rear of rough-terrain cranes. A single hitch point allows the ZeroLift Pad Rack to fold up and out of the way when not in use. When mounted correctly, the ZeroLift Pad Rack has minimal impact on crane ground clearance. At only 60 pounds, the Pad Rack does not affect crane load charts. In addition, the ZeroLift Pad Rack is versatile enough to transport other equipment, such as toolboxes.

DICA offers more than 50 models of engineered outrigger pads that help employers with proper crane setup. Many of these models can be transported with the new ZeroLift Pad Rack. www.dicausa.com

XL-Hybrids-Conversions

XL Hybrids Receives CARB Executive Order

XL Hybrids has received a California Air Resources Board executive order allowing aftermarket conversions of gasoline-powered 2012-2014 model year General Motors 2500 and 3500 vans, Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans into hybrid electric vehicles. The XL Hybrids XL3 Hybrid Electric Drive System is on sale now in California for the first time.

The XL3 Hybrid Electric Drive System has been shown to increase miles driven per gallon by approximately 25 percent in real-world fleet vehicle driving. The XL3 is a regenerative braking system that requires no special fueling stations, plug-ins or maintenance. Fleets can rapidly adopt the XL3 system because there is no driver training required, no new fueling infrastructure required, and the install takes less than one day. Plus, driver productivity increases because drivers can spend more time on their routes and less time at the pump.

In addition, the fuel reduction achieved with the XL3 hybrid system helps California fleets accelerate their corporate sustainability initiatives. According to the EPA, every 1,000 gallons of fuel saved results in 8.9 metric tons of carbon dioxide reduced. www.xlhybrids.com
