Ford F-Series News

Add rice hulls to the list of sustainable materials Ford is using for America’s best-selling F-Series, which also includes soybeans, recycled cotton, carpet, tires, water bottles and post-industrial plastic. Rice hull-reinforced plastic is used in an electrical harness for the 2014 F-150, proving pickups can be green and tough. Ford will need at least 45,000 pounds of hulls in the first year.

Additionally, the company’s Kansas City Assembly Plant has launched a third crew to meet surging customer demand for the Ford F-Series. Through July, F-Series sales were 50 percent higher than the second-best-selling vehicle in America. With the additional crew at Kansas City Assembly, Ford has reached 75 percent of its goal to create 12,000 hourly jobs in the United States by 2015. www.ford.com/trucks
